This waterfall in Oita Prefecture has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan. It is 120 meters wide and 20 meters high, and was created by the pyroclastic flow of the great eruption of Mount Aso 90,000 years ago. It is a spectacular spot where a waterfall suddenly appears in a tranquil rural area. It's like Niagara Falls in Japan. You can go down and get close to the waterfall, so you can enjoy the spectacular view up close while feeling the spray of the waterfall. There is a suspension bridge in front of the waterfall, so you can see the waterfall from the front. There is also a walking path from the top of the waterfall where you can look down at the waterfall basin, so enjoy the waterfall from various angles. Harajiri Falls
