Atmosphere/Facilities: Cable car, 100-story staircase, characteristic houses
Features: 100-step small cable car, painted village
Price per person: Free
Rating: A small village located in the hilly terrain next to Busan Central Park. Most of South Korea's terrain is hilly and most houses are built on hillsides. In the early days when there were no electrical appliances and no means of transportation. The main road can only be reached via hundreds of steps. Busan, in particular, is a typical and representative ladder city.
The Stairs of Hope were originally designed for residents to walk up the hundreds of steps that they had to take to get to the bus. Considering the inconvenience of walking for the elderly, a small cable car with two seats and a weight limit of 10 kilograms was set up, which is very much like an improved electric stair chair.
Later, it unexpectedly became a photo spot for tourists, which attracted the local government's attention. They not only maintained the place but also added many beautifying art installations. They also opened the second-level ladder cable car for tourists to ride. The first floor needs to be reserved for local residents.
The transportation here is not very convenient, you need to take a taxi or drive there. It's very hard to wait for the bus and there is no subway either.
