Busan|The 40-Step Cultural Center condenses the lives of Korean War refugees

When the Korean War broke out in 1950, displaced people gathered here to seek refuge and keep each other warm. Many simple wooden houses were built at that time to provide refugees with a place to shelter from the wind and rain. Supplies were transported from nearby docks and sold or distributed here, forming a market. Family members who were separated during the evacuation also reunited here. The Forty-Step Theme Street and Cultural Center, which embodies the background of the Korean War, record the suffering of seventy years ago.
The fifth floor of the cultural center is a centralized exhibition hall. Education cannot wait during war, and the puppets reconstruct the educational scenes of that time, the items and diaries left over from those years, depicting the people who lived seriously under the war and how they swallowed their suffering and tears. It is recommended to visit the cultural center first and then visit the theme street for a better experience.
In fact, there were more than 100,000 refugees living in Dongguang-dong, Bosu-dong, and the back mountain of Yeongju-dong. In 2004, the government condensed this period of history into a cultural theme street and a cultural center, hoping that the mark of history can be preserved and allow Busan to move forward.
