My visit to the White Lighthouse in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan, was a delightful experience, offering a serene perspective of the city's iconic coastline. Located prominently at the end of the breakwater within Millak Port, this lighthouse, often seen alongside a complementary red one, is a picturesque landmark within the broader Millak Waterside Park area.
This white beacon isn't a towering monument, but its elegant simplicity and strategic position make it a captivating sight. Strolling along the breakwater towards the lighthouse, I soaked in the fresh sea air and enjoyed unobstructed views of the bustling Millak Port, where local fishing boats add to the authentic maritime atmosphere. It's a fantastic spot for a leisurely walk, providing a peaceful contrast to the vibrant energy of nearby Gwangalli Beach.
From the lighthouse, the vistas are truly rewarding. You get a unique angle on the magnificent Gwangan Bridge, especially when its thousands of LED lights shimmer across the water as evening descends. The urban landscape of Haeundae's Marine City also forms a striking backdrop. It's a popular spot for photography, capturing the interplay of the lighthouse, the sea, and the modern city.
The area around the lighthouse is very accessible and offers plenty to do. Just steps away is Millak Waterside Park, where I saw locals enjoying picnics, and nearby, the famous Millak Hoe Town provides abundant opportunities to savor fresh seafood, which you can even take to enjoy by the water's edge. The newly popular Millac The Market is also close by, offering trendy cafes, shops, and a unique cultural space.
