Puzhao Temple, located in Wucun, Zancun Town, Hancheng City, Shaanxi Province, was first built in 1316, the third year of the Yuan Dynasty's Yanyou reign, and further renovated during the Qing Dynasty. Its 426-square-meter building features a main hall dating back to the Yuan Dynasty, five bays wide and three bays deep, with a single-eaved hip roof.
Puzhao Temple was designated a provincial key cultural relic protection site in 1992 and a fifth-batch national key cultural relic protection site by the State Council. Built at the southern end of an ancient fortress over 10 meters high, the temple commands a commanding presence, resembling a tiger perched high on a mountain. It is a landmark building dating back to the Yuan Dynasty in Hancheng and imbued with a rich Buddhist heritage.
In recent years, Puzhao Temple has held a Buddhist cultural ancient temple fair on April 8th each year. April 8th marks the birthday of Sakyamuni and is one of the largest Buddhist festivals in my country. On the day of the fair, pilgrims and the public from far and wide devoutly enter the temple to worship the Buddha and pray for good fortune and blessings.

The main building of Puzhao Temple is the Great Buddha Hall, which houses five colorful statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, the Bodhisattvas Manjusri and Samantabhadra, and his disciples Ananda and Kasyapa, sculpted in 1326 during the third year of the Taiding reign of the Yuan Dynasty. Over 130 caisson ceiling paintings from the Ming and Qing dynasties are also preserved. To the east and west of the main hall are a Land God Temple and a Guandi Temple. To the east and west of the main hall are the Jialan Hall and the Dharma Protector Hall, respectively. Behind the hall are the Guanyin Cave and a Zen temple.
Puzhao Temple is a rare example of typical Yuan Dynasty architecture, featuring lifelike and full-bodied Buddha statues and precious paintings on the ceiling. The integration of architecture, statues, and paintings is of great historical, cultural, and scientific value.
