The village's revitalization began in 2009, when local artists and residents started decorating the area with murals and art projects, turning it into an open-air museum.

Nestled at the foot of a mountain, Gamcheon Culture Village is a terraced settlement of houses, often referred to as "Busan's Machu Picchu" for its unique beauty.
