Urban Oasis - Busan Modern History Museum Annex Library

The Busan Modern History Museum Annex, located at 104 Daecheong-ro, Jung-gu, Busan, is a modern architectural structure built in 1929 during the Japanese colonial period as the Busan branch of the Oriental Development Company. It retains features of early modernist architecture with a touch of Western style, and its exterior vine patterns and lotus reliefs around the windows are particularly striking. After liberation, the building served various purposes, including as U.S. military accommodations and the American Cultural Center, before being reborn as a multi-cultural space (a 'Rakibium') that functions as a library, archive, and museum. It is a place for relaxation, meeting, and learning, open to all citizens free of charge, though it is closed on Mondays and January 1st. Nearby attractions include Yongdusan Park and Busan Tower.
