📸 ‘Un-forgotten Footsteps’ at the 국립일제강제동원역사관 (National Museum of Forced Mobilization)

#hellohalloween

Situated at 100 Honggok-ro 320beon-gil, Nam-gu, Busan, this national museum was established to document and teach about the forced mobilization of Koreans under Japanese colonial rule. Officially opened in July 2016, it stands near Busan’s former departure points for conscripted labor and aims to foster historical awareness, human rights education and remembrance.

Inside the museum, visitors will find a solemn and powerful experience: permanent exhibitions detail types of forced mobilization (military, labor, comfort-women), personal testimonies, archival photos and artefacts. The building itself is architecturally symbolic — designed with rugged terraces and textured façades that reflect the trauma of mobilization.

A visit here takes around 1 to 1½ hours, and admission is free. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday (typically 09:30–17:30, last entry 17:00), and closed on Mondays and national holidays.
