Cairo Citadel & Mosque of Muhammad Ali
Built in the 12th century by Saladin to resist the Crusades, the citadel is divided into inner and outer sections, housing palaces and temples. The towering minarets of the Mosque of Muhammad Ali pierce the sky like sharp swords, while its enormous dome shimmers under the sunlight.
Cairo's pyramids and museums are indeed captivating, but the Mosque of Muhammad Ali 🕌️ within the Saladin Citadel was the most surprising highlight of this trip!
The yellow alabaster exterior walls have a vintage feel, giving a strong sense of history. The overall Byzantine style is simply gorgeous 💕💕💕
Inside, countless vintage electric lamps and colorful quartz glass create a magnificent and romantic ambiance, evoking a Hogwarts-like atmosphere. The whole place feels sacred and solemn!
From the platform outside the mosque, you can overlook the entire city of Cairo. On a clear day, you can even spot the small, hazy pyramids in the distance!
As I was leaving, I stumbled upon a wedding ceremony 💒—so romantic!
Most group tours usually include this spot. If you're planning a DIY trip to Cairo, promise me you'll add this to your list!
