Kilit Bashir Castle is located in the European side of Çanakkale, and you need to take a ferry from the Asian side to see the castle.
After taking the ferry, you can see Kirat Bashir Castle on the left. Fatih Sultan Ahmet built the fortress in 1463, primarily for defense against the Ottoman Empire.
After walking for a few minutes from the main gate, you will reach the toll booth. As you enter the castle, you will see a huge statue of an Ottoman soldier. Kilit Bashir had ten cannons at the time, and when viewed from above, the fortress resembled a cloverleaf.
The Kilit Bashir fortress was built with fine cut stone, rough cut stone and rubble. Kilit Bashir Castle currently serves as a museum for tourists. The castle is divided into three separate parts. It consists of the main tower, inner tower and outer city.
The Inner Tower is located in the center of the castle and has seven floors. The tower was used for shelter and storage. There are stone steps leading to the first floor. There are wooden steps leading to the other floors.
There is a beautiful view from the castle, a beautiful place, recommended.
