Cannes is known for its dazzling Croisette and film festivals, but a whole new world unfolds when you climb up the hill to Le Suquet.
Narrow cobblestone streets and pastel-colored brick buildings, with flowers hanging from every window, preserve the tranquility of a medieval town. Instead of the roar of cars, the quiet streets are filled with the sounds of birdsong and footsteps—and within these, I discovered another side of Cannes.

🌿 A Southern French Sensation Permeates the Alleyways
The alleyways of Le Suquet are beautifully winding. Wine bars and small shops are hidden here and there, and locals begin their mornings leisurely with a cup of coffee. The sunlight reflecting off the walls softened the warm beige of the buildings, and the flower pots and alley signs placed here and there added to the village's charm.
As you walk, you'll come across a small cathedral and stairs leading to an observation deck. From there, the view of downtown Cannes is elegant yet vibrant.

🌊 A view of the port and the city
Looking down the hill, you can see the Vieux Port (Old Port) and the azure Mediterranean Sea in full view. White yachts are moored, and the palm trees and red-roofed buildings along the coastline create a picturesque harmony.
Le Souquet felt more than just an old neighborhood; it felt like a place where Cannes' beginnings and present meet—a place where time flows slowly and the breeze blows gently.

1️⃣ Getting There – It's about a 10-minute walk from the Croisette. Although it's a hilly path, it's short, and there are shops scattered along the way, making it a great place to leisurely stroll and explore. 2️⃣ Recommended Time of Day – Mornings are perfect for enjoying the quiet alley atmosphere, while afternoons offer beautiful photos as the harbor area takes on warm colors.
3️⃣ Must-See – Admire the Eglise Notre-Dame d’Espérance church atop the hill and the sea and city views from the nearby observation deck.
