Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan, also known as Wat Luang Pho Sothon, is located on the banks of the Bang Pakong River in Chachoengsao Province. This ancient temple houses the sacred Buddha image, "Luang Pho Sothon," which Thais often visit to pray for blessings of health, career, and good fortune. Inside the temple, there is a beautiful white marble ordination hall, a shady atmosphere, and a shop selling boiled eggs for making merit and offerings. It's a perfect place to worship and relax on a holiday.
Legend tells of the history of Luang Pho Sothon. Legend has it that three siblings of Buddha images floated down the Bang Pakong River. However, only one was able to be enshrined at Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan, while the other two, "Luang Pho Ban Laem" and "Luang Pho To Bang Phli," were enshrined elsewhere. Wat Sothon is believed to have been built during the late Ayutthaya period. Originally named "Wat Hong" due to its swan pillar, the swan later broke, so a flag was added to replace it. The name was later distorted to "Wat Sao Thon," which eventually became "Wat Sothon."
