How to Visit Orange Isle & Yuelu Mountain in One Day

If you only have one day in Changsha, you can still cover the city’s two iconic landmarks — Orange Isle (橘子洲头) and Yuelu Mountain (岳麓山) — easily with this efficient route!

🕐 Morning — Orange Isle (橘子洲头)
• Take Metro Line 2 (地铁2号线) to “橘子洲站” Exit 2, walk straight into the park.
• Hop on the sightseeing mini train (观光小火车) — ¥40 round trip — and ride all the way to the end for the Mao Zedong Art Sculpture (毛泽东青年艺术雕塑), the island’s C-spot!
• The whole ride plus walk back takes around 2.5 hours.

🌄 Afternoon — Yuelu Mountain (岳麓山)
• From 橘子洲站, take Metro Line 2 → Line 4, alight at Hunan University Station (湖南大学站).
• Enter from Dongfanghong Square (东方红广场), the main south gate.
• Visit Aiwanting Pavilion (爱晚亭) and Yuelu Academy (岳麓书院) — admission ¥40, students half price.
• Either hike or take the sightseeing cable car (观光车) ¥30 return to the top for beautiful sunset views.
