Fujian's "Little Hongya Cave": The Nighttime Poetry and Painting of Changting Ancient City
As night falls, I step into Changting, Fujian, an ancient city known as the "Little Hongya Cave." Unlike the bustling and lively Hongya Cave in Chongqing, Changting's night carries a sense of tranquility and simplicity.
Strolling along Diantou Street, the stone-paved road glows warmly under the lights. The aroma from street food stalls fills the air—sweet ginger candy mingling with the fresh scent of rice noodles, tempting passersby to stop and taste. Crossing Jichuan Bridge, the ancient city wall appears even more solemn in the night. Climbing the wall, the ancient cityscape unfolds before my eyes, with lights outlining the contours of historic buildings like a flowing painting.
Entering Wolong Academy, the charm of classical gardens greets me, with every detail revealing the weight of history. The stone carvings at the Doctor's Residence are exquisite, and the traditional wood carvings at Baxiguan are breathtaking.
Changting's night lacks excessive commercial atmosphere but is filled with the warmth of life and the depth of history everywhere. Here, I feel as if I have traveled through time, having a soulful conversation with the ancient city. If you yearn for a quiet yet soulful journey, the night in Changting Ancient City will surely not disappoint you.
