Qingjiang Hydropower Stations along the Qingjiang River

#discoverchina
On the Qingjiang River in Hubei, China, the three grand hydropower stations—Geheyan, Gaobazhou, and Shuibuya—stand tall, forming the Qingjiang cascade hydropower system.
With a designed annual generation of 8 billion kWh, the Qingjiang cascade hydropower stations are the largest hydropower base in central and eastern China, second only to the Three Gorges Project. Each station has its own unique features:

Geheyan Hydropower Station
🌊 By the end of 2024: 80.017 billion kWh generated
🍀 Equivalent to: Cutting 67.05 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions
With a total installed capacity of 1.212 million kW, Geheyan Hydropower Station has a designed annual power generation of 3.04 billion kWh.

Gaobazhou Hydropower Station
🌊 By the end of 2024: 21.773 billion kWh generated
🍀 Equivalent to: Cutting 18.25 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions
With a total installed capacity of 270,000 kW, Gaobazhou Hydropower Station has a designed annual generation of 898 million kWh.

Shuibuya Hydropower Station
🌊 By the end of 2024: 62.595 billion kWh generated
🍀 Equivalent to: Cutting 52.45 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions
Shuibuya Hydropower Station boasts a total installed capacity of 1.84 million kW and a designed annual generation of 3.984 billion kWh.

Harnessing the power of water, the Qingjiang cascade hydropower stations generate clean energy while sustaining the river’s beauty and vitality.💙
