Chaozhou Ancient City has a history of over a thousand years. The buildings in the ancient city are mostly in Minnan and Chaoshan styles, with curved roofs, exquisite carvings, and vibrant colors, showcasing the local craftsmanship and cultural characteristics. The ancient city has its own charm both day and night. (Images 1-4)
Paifang Street in Chaozhou is located in the old city area and is composed of 22 stone archways, each telling the stories of Chaozhou's historical heroes. Along Paifang Street, you can find intangible cultural heritage items such as ceramics, Chao embroidery, hand-pulled teapots, and Kung Fu tea. Various shops not only display traditional crafts but also offer a variety of delicious and authentic snacks. (Images 5-6)
Guangji Bridge, also known as Xiangzi Bridge, is one of Chaozhou's landmarks and was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 1988. Guangji Bridge consists of two stone beam bridges on the east and west sides and a floating bridge in the middle. There are 24 bridge pavilions on the stone beam bridges near the banks, each with its own unique style. The middle section of the bridge is a floating bridge connected by 18 boats, about 97 meters long, fixed with iron chains. It is usually used by citizens for walking. In case of floods or large ships needing to pass, the iron chains can be untied, making it very flexible. It was praised by the famous bridge expert Mao Yisheng as the world's earliest open-close bridge. The night light show on Guangji Bridge is officially named 'Light of Phoenix City' and is held every night. (Images 7-12)
