Going to Chengde on the weekend, with only two days and one night, how can you have the most fun?
It takes 1 hour by high-speed rail from Beijing Chaoyang Station to Chengde. Chengde High-speed Railway Station has convenient public transportation. Chengde's public transportation lines cover most tourist attractions.
Day 1: Take a taxi or public transportation from Chengde High-speed Railway Station to the Little Potala Palace - Panchen Lama's Palace - Bangchui Mountain.
As you tour the mountain, the Five Pagoda Gate, the Glazed Archway, the Big White Terrace and the Big Red Terrace are all great photo spots.
After coming out of the Little Potala Palace, you can taste almond ice cream and almonds, stroll to the Panchen Lama's Palace, take a free sightseeing bus, or take a horse-drawn carriage.
The big golden dragon on the roof of the Panchen Lama's palace is very dazzling.
The estimated time for visiting the Little Potala Palace and the Panchen Lama's Palace is 3 hours.
In the afternoon, go to Bangchui Mountain, take the cable car 🚠 up the mountain, feel the "God's thumb" after reaching the top, click the like 👍, take photos 📸, check in, and then walk down the mountain, feeling the changes in sunlight as the sun gradually sets in the west. Toad Rock is also a good place to take photos.
Day 2: Shuangta Mountain—Chengde Museum—return.
It is best to go to Shuangta Mountain in the morning as the wild macaques are more energetic in the morning.
There is no need to take the cable car at Shuangta Mountain. Climb up the stairs and get closer to Shuangta Mountain little by little. Pay attention to the Imperial Chair Rock and Lover's Cliff in the distance. People gathered in a circle, which might be the appearance of macaques.
The Shuangta Mountain memorial and the plank road are both great spots for taking photos.
After coming out of Shuangta Mountain, you can go to Chengde Museum to feel the breath of history.
Chengde delicacies: donkey rolls, buckwheat noodles, Lao San mutton soup, and pot stickers.
Accommodation: Stay near the Mountain Resort, visit the Erxianju Night Market in the evening, or take a double-decker sightseeing bus for a night tour of Chengde.
