While there is no doubt that chengdu can make for a splendid weekend getaway. It can also be cost effective depending on where you are coming from. We managed to get a great deal on AirAsia (not my favourite at all). That helped make the trip light on the pocket.

Chengdu is a well connected city with the rest of china. Often it's location or it being far away from shanghai or beijing causes people to skip it. But being the capital of Sichuan province, Chengdu, is a hot spot for spicy food! It has a richch cultural heritage, and beautiful scenery with so many things to see. Ocassionaly controversial, It is also home to the largest panda-breeding facility in the world. Your best go to options will include the Chengdu Museum, the Qingyang Palace, and the former residence of one of the greatest Chinese poets, Du Fu is an interesting experience too. #weekendgetaways #chengdu #china_diaries
