The entire scenic area, ranging in altitude from 1,300 to 2,991 meters, features multi-layered plateau karst landforms that blend the central and western tropical and southern temperate zones. It is the only subtropical botanical treasure trove in southeastern Yunnan and is known as an oasis on the Tropic of Cancer. Its forest area alone exceeds 140,000 mu (approximately 140,000 mu).
