#AprilGoodDestinations2025

Du Fu Thatched Cottage is said to be the shelter built by the great Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu when he moved to Chengdu with his family to avoid the An-Shi Rebellion. Du Fu lived here for nearly four years and wrote more than 200 poems that have been passed down to this day. It has now been expanded into the "Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum", located on the banks of Huanhua Creek outside the west gate of Chengdu.

Du Fu Thatched Cottage has completely preserved the layout when it was rebuilt during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. It has a total area of nearly 300 acres and is a unique hybrid Chinese classical garden. The museum is divided into functional areas: the former site of the Thatched Cottage, the Plum Garden and the Thatched Cottage Temple, which brings together many characteristic buildings, historical legends and the essence of poetry.

When you visit here, you can go to the statue of Du Fu to catch a glimpse of the poet's elegance; you can also recite his poems and savor their artistic conception; you can also go to the thatched house area to appreciate the rural scenery and experience the joy of farm life. It is well worth a visit.
