Review of Du Fu Thatched Cottage and Huanhuaxi Park, Chengdu

When it comes to cultural tourism in Chengdu, one must-see is Du Fu Thatched Cottage (杜甫草堂), a replica residence of the Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu. Built to commemorate the poet's work and life, the cottage evokes a tranquil and shady atmosphere. Surrounded by wooden houses, ancient pavilions, and exquisitely landscaped Chinese gardens, it's like stepping back in time to the Tang Dynasty.

The exhibition area features archives, artwork, Chinese characters, and literary exhibitions, allowing visitors to explore Du Fu's poetry in a deeper light. These poems, particularly those reflecting the hardships and concerns of the nation, continue to touch the hearts of people centuries ago.

Continuing beyond the cottage, you'll find Huanhuaxi Park (浣花溪公园), a large park with a small stream, arched bridges, and walking paths amidst the trees. Nature lovers will be captivated by this place, where you can relax, take a slow walk, or even sip tea in the pavilion by the water to fully absorb the tranquility. This place is also a great spot for viewing flowers and birds, creating a romantic and relaxing atmosphere.

The appeal of visiting these two places simultaneously is experiencing both "cultural heritage" and "nature" in one place. From the Poet's Cottage to the Stream Garden, it's a journey that fulfills both the senses and the soul.

✨ We recommend allowing at least half a day for this visit, as the atmosphere is so beautiful you won't want to rush. Highly recommended.
