Where to Go in Chengdu for Lunar New Year - Panda Lantern Festival

Want to see lanterns during the Lunar New Year but Zigong is too far away? Check out this guide to the Chengdu Jiangtan Park Lantern Festival:

The festival will run from January 22 to March 9, and will be closed on January 28 (New Year's Eve). The festival will be open daily from 10:00–22:00, with the last entry at 21:30.
Note: The lanterns will only be lit at 18:00.

• Ticket reservation: Follow the "54th Chengdu International Panda Lantern Festival" WeChat account and make a reservation using your ID card and mobile number. Each person must have their own ticket and bring their ID card to the festival.

Transportation

• Subway: Take Line 1 or Line 18 to Shijicheng Station (Exit F), then take the shuttle bus to the festival entrance.

• Bus: Take Bus 102, 115, 240, or G92 to Jiangtan Park Station, then walk to the festival entrance.

• Driving: We recommend using a navigation app and checking traffic updates to plan your route and time. Park at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center or other nearby parking lots.

Inside the park

• Route: The festival has one main entrance, four visitor exits, and two emergency exits. We recommend walking counterclockwise around the park. The route is about 1.5 km long and takes about 1 hour to complete.

• Must-see lanterns: "Jincheng Nianjie" is inspired by historical and cultural stories about Li Bai, Du Fu, and others. There are also panda-themed installations like "Fuxi and Nuwa Panda" and "Panda Tug-of-War," as well as new interactive installations like "Shushan Snow" and "Hot Rolling," and new light installations like "Qu Shui Liu Shang" and "Light Meditation." The water screen projection walkway is also worth a visit.

Bring your family for a fun day out during the Lunar New Year!
