How about enjoying some Korean pancakes after a summer hike? If you want to experience both nature and delicious food in Cheongju, hiking up Sangdangsanseong Fortress followed by a plate of Korean pancakes is the perfect itinerary ⛰️🌿. I arrived early in the morning at the Sangdangsanseong parking lot and started my hike. From the very beginning, the lush forest path unfolded, and the cool breeze and birdsong made the walk incredibly refreshing and healing! The incline is gentle enough for beginners to enjoy, making it a great trail for everyone.
After a leisurely 30 to 40 minutes of hiking, you’ll reach the ridge section where you can walk along the fortress walls. The panoramic view of Cheongju city from the open observatory is absolutely breathtaking! 📸 On clear days, you can see Musimcheon Stream and the cityscape in one glance, giving you a liberating sense of openness. As you walk, you naturally find your rhythm, and even if you sweat, it feels invigorating 😌💪.
After the hike, I headed to a Korean pancake restaurant near the entrance of Sangdangsanseong to satisfy my appetite. This area is famous for its Korean pancakes and makgeolli (Korean rice wine), so there are plenty of great options to choose from!
Spending a day sweating in nature and wrapping it up with delicious food makes the Sangdangsanseong pancake course a hidden gem of Cheongju’s travel experiences 💚.
