Umong Temple, Chiang Mai Province

Wat Umong, an important ancient site that has been in Chiang Mai for more than 700 years, is a beautiful and attractive natural tourist attraction. In addition to the beautiful temples and monasteries, this place also has unique characteristics that are unlike any other.

Wat Umong or Suan Phutthatham is located on Suthep Road, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. This place was built during the reign of King Mangrai around 1839 and King Kuena built a tunnel here for Phra Mahathera Chan to use as a place for meditation. Therefore, the inner wall has many passages that can be walked through. There are also old mural paintings inside the tunnel. Therefore, tourists often come to walk and admire the beauty inside the tunnel and take beautiful pictures back.

On top of the tunnel is the 700-year-old Lanna-style pagoda, which is believed to have been built around the beginning of the 20th Buddhist century. The surrounding area is beautiful with various types of trees. The atmosphere is refreshing, shady, and cool, especially during the rainy season when lush green moss covers the area around the temple, the pagoda, and the front of the tunnel, making this place uniquely beautiful.

In addition, Wat Umong also has other important places. Which is divided into several parts: the Ashoka pillar replica, the stone inscription, the stairs to the pagoda, the Naga head, the Bodhisattva statue, the open-air museum, the Dharma mystery cinema, the Dhammakhot library, the Chalermprakiat Museum, and the Suan Phuttharam office.

For those who visit Chiang Mai, don't miss stopping by to pay homage and see the beauty inside Wat Umong. The atmosphere is shady. No matter where you look, it's refreshing. You can take a deep breath of fresh air. And inside the temple, there is a beagle dog. It's very cute and friendly to tourists. ##Visit Chiang Mai
