"Wat Chiang Yuen" is a royal temple with an auspicious name, symbolizing the power and prestige of Chiang Mai. It was constructed in alignment with the city's layout, incorporating astrological beliefs and auspicious elements. The temple houses the sacred Buddha image "Phra Sapphanyu Chao Dech Mueang," representing immense power and authority. Historically, Lanna kings would visit this temple for worship before entering the city, during coronation ceremonies, or both before and after military campaigns to seek blessings and good fortune.
