One of the most important temples in Chiang Mai and Thailand is Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan.

It was built in 1345 by Phaya Phayu, the fifth king of Chiang Mai of the Mangrai Dynasty, to enshrine the ashes of his father, Phaya Khamfu.

It was originally named Wat Li Chiang Phra because the Li Chiang Phra Market in front of the temple is located. It is also the sacred chedi for those born in the Year of the Dragon.

Important Buddha image: It houses the Phra Buddha Sihing (replica) image enshrined in the Wihan Lai Kham, a beautiful Lanna architectural structure.
