#VisitChiangMai
🏘Wat Chai Si Phum was built around 1442–1457 during the reign of King Tilokarat of Chiang Mai to be the pride of Chiang Mai, according to the fourfold city rule.
🏞It was presided over by a soldier named Panta Ken, hence the name Wat Panta Ken. Later, it was called Wat Chai Si Phum due to its proximity to the Si Phum intersection.
🙏🏽In 1521, during the reign of Phra Muang Kaew, the ruler of the central region sent a royal message to Phra Muang Kaew to establish a friendly relationship. Knowing the sacred reputation of the red sandalwood Buddha image, which King Pasenadi dedicated to the Buddha seven years before the Buddha's passing, he developed a strong faith and sent offerings to pay homage.

Interesting and significant features within the temple include:
🏠The ubosot (ordination hall) features a modern style and has been recently renovated and is surrounded by a glass wall. Inside, the principal Buddha image is enshrined, a reclining Buddha.
⛺ The newly renovated traditional vihara is in perfect condition, featuring a front entrance hall, a naga-shaped handrail, and a carved wooden pediment with gilded vine patterns.
🏚 The vihara, constructed entirely of wood, is known as the Wihan Phra Chao Than Jai.
🙏🏽 Wihan Phra Chao Fon Saen Ha
🏘 The four huts house the Phra Chai Khie Miang (also known as Phra Chao Saen Chai) and the red sandalwood Buddha image.
🛕 The pagoda is a castle-shaped or Lanna-style square-round pagoda with a recessed square lotus base.
🛖 The two-story traditional-style library.
