Wat Phra That Doi Thong and the 108 navel pillars of the city

#VisitChiangRai Wat Phra That Doi Thong or Wat Phra That Doi Chom Thong is one of the 9 chedis of Chiang Rai. It is an ancient temple that is more than 760 years old. The chedi enshrines the relics of the Lord Buddha, which were presented to Phraya Pangkrat of Yonok Nakphan.

In the same area are 108 navel pillars of the city, built according to ancient beliefs in the form of a hypothetical universe. According to the ancient beliefs of Lanna, the navel pillars of the city are as big as five fists and as high as the king. The base of the pillar is as big as five fists and as high as the height of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.
