🙏🏻Wat Phra That Doi Khao Kwai Kaew is a temple in Chiang Rai Province, located on a hill on the road to Dong Mada. The mountaintop offers a scenic viewpoint, offering views of Chiang Rai city, both day and night. This ancient temple was built around 1,000 years ago during the Buddha's reign. Legend has it that a four-eared, five-eyed insect, a creature that feeds on hot coals and produces gold from its excrement, is also associated with the legend of the white buffalo Kaew Khao Saeng, which is the origin of the temple's name.
The pagoda enshrines the relics of the Buddha, including the left little finger of the Buddha and the horn of the white buffalo Kaew Khao Saeng. Access is convenient, accessible by private vehicle. Dress appropriately and modestly.
