Wat Phra That Chom Wae, Chiang Rai Province

Phra That Chom Wae, Chiang Rai Province
Phra That Chom Wae was built by Phraya Ngam Mueang, the ruler of Phukamyao (Phayao). He traveled to Doi Sang Kham (the original name of Doi Chom Wae) to inspect the territory of his country to see where his people were. He ordered his ministers to bring those who were knowledgeable in building pagodas, along with people from other provinces, to help build Phra That Chom Wae at Doi Sang Kham. He built it over the fan marks and enshrined the hair relics, gems, silver, and gold.

When paying homage to Phra That Doi Chom Wae
- Meaning 1: Wae is a northern language, meaning to stop by. If anyone passes by and stops to pay homage, they will be safe from all bad things.
- Meaning 2: Wae is like the sound of the beginning of a conversation. If you pay homage and pray, your business negotiation will be successful.
