The Sun-Shooting Tower is located in Chiayi Park in the East District of Chiayi City. The Sun-Shooting Tower is a tower-style building with a height of 62 meters and a total of 12 floors. It is known as the "Landmark of Chiayi City." The original site of the Sun-Shooting Tower was the Chiayi Shrine during the Japanese colonial period. After World War II, it was changed to the Martyrs' Shrine. It was later burned down by a fire and rebuilt as the Sun-Shooting Tower on the original site in 1999. The name of the tower comes from the aboriginal story of "shooting the sun myth". The top slope of the tower is inlaid with Chiayi City's city flower, the red bauhinia, which symbolizes the enthusiasm of Chiayi City. There is a space on the top floor of the tower used as a venue for cultural and artistic performances. There is a long glass strip in front of and behind the well and the ground, through which you can see through to the bottom of the Sun-Shooting Tower. Go up the door next to it and you will reach the view restaurant. You can order a drink in the restaurant and sit by the window to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the distance. Here you can see the scenery outside at 360° without blind spots. It is a good place to climb high and relax.
