Koyasu Shrine in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture

This shrine was founded during the Enryaku era (782-806) with the ancient tomb behind the main building as its sacred object.
It is said that during the Engi era (901-921), Princess Inada was promoted and the shrine came to be enshrined as Koyasu Daimyojin.
When the wife of Chibanosuke Taira Tsunetane became pregnant, her vassal Nagata Hachiro Tokitada prayed at the shrine and the baby was delivered safely. In response, Tsunetane built the main building in 1193.
In 1445, the 21st Chibanosuke Yasutane also gave birth safely. In gratitude, a large festival was held.
From the mid-Edo period, a grand ceremony for the impartation of children and safe childbirth began to be held, and it continues to be held every seven years to this day.
The main shrine is at the end of a long approach to the shrine. Behind it lies a shrine building and the Koyasu Kofun Tomb!
The tomb was built by a powerful clan that ruled the surrounding area at the time.
This shrine has inherited good traditions from long ago.
There is also a wide variety of goshuin stamps available.
It is very popular, and despite the fact that it is not easily accessible, many visitors come here looking for goshuin stamps.
