On our journey here, autumn rain pattered softly. The Chicheng Mountains, usually glimpsed from highways, now revealed themselves along national roads winding at their foothills. Clouds draped the slopes like brushstrokes in an ink-wash painting. We pitched our tent beneath poplar trees, with sweeping meadows, rugged cliffs, and meandering mountain streams before us.

The post-rain forest felt profoundly tranquil, its crisp air infused with earthy fragrances that filled our lungs—we couldn't help breathing deeply.

Sunlight filtered through leaves, casting mosaic shadows. Mountain time unfolded to a symphony of insects, birdsong, and woodland scents gently enveloping us.
We'll return to Sandao River in late autumn to follow its streams deeper into idyllic, poetry-worthy valleys and witness their fiery autumn colors.
