Mae Ya Waterfall: A Must-Visit Gem in Chiang Mai!
#RainySeasonTourism Many people may not know that Chiang Mai doesn't only have beautiful temples and cafes, but also has a very beautiful and magnificent waterfall, Mae Ya Waterfall, hidden away!
Getting to Mae Ya Waterfall is not as difficult as you might think. It is located in Doi Inthanon National Park. The roads are convenient and there are clear signs. You can drive there in a leisurely manner. Once you get there, you will have to walk a bit further, but I assure you that it will be worth the effort!
When you see Mae Ya Waterfall with your own eyes, you will immediately understand why it is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand. The white water flowing down from a steep cliff over 260 meters high, breaking into waves like a water curtain, is very magnificent. The surrounding area is full of lush green forests and the air is fresh and refreshing. It's like recharging your body and mind.

Getting to Mae Ya Waterfall
Mae Ya Waterfall is located in Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai Province. Getting here is quite convenient and there are several ways to choose from.
1. Private car
The most convenient way is to drive your own car.
From Chiang Mai city: Take Highway No. 108 (Chiang Mai-Hot) heading south.
When you reach Chom Thong District: Turn right onto Highway No. 1009 (Chom Thong-Doi Inthanon).
Keep driving straight: There will be a clear sign for the entrance to Mae Ya Waterfall. The entrance to Mae Ya Waterfall is before reaching the top of Doi Inthanon (approximately 17 kilometers on Highway No. 1009).
From the parking lot: When you reach the park parking lot, you will have to walk about 600 meters to the waterfall. The walking path is flat and easy to walk.
2. Public transport
Yellow Songthaew (Chiang Mai-Chom Thong): You can take a yellow songthaew from Chiang Mai Gate in Chiang Mai city to Chom Thong District.
Transfer from Chom Thong: From Chom Thong District, you may have to rent a car or hire a songthaew to go to Mae Ya Waterfall, which may be difficult to find and quite expensive.
Additional recommendations:
Road condition: The road to Mae Ya Waterfall is quite good and paved all the way.
Fee: There is an entrance fee to Doi Inthanon National Park. (including Mae Ya Waterfall) for both Thais and foreigners.
The best time: During the rainy season (June - October), the water will be abundant and especially beautiful. However, be careful about slippery roads and the amount of water.
