Famous Temple Attraction in Chongqing's Yuzhong District: Luohan Temple

Located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, Luohan Temple was originally built during the Northern Song Dynasty's Zhiping era (1064–1067) and was initially named Zhiping Temple. The temple was constructed around the Luohan Cave. According to the "Records of Famous Scenic Spots in Sichuan," "Zhiping Temple has two ancient caves: Luohan and Xiantian." In the 17th year of the Qianlong reign (1752) during the Qing Dynasty, the front hall collapsed and was rebuilt as the Dragon God Shrine. Later, it became known as Luohan Temple or Ancient Buddha Rock. Luohan Temple is one of China's key Buddhist temples, a nationally protected cultural heritage site, and the headquarters of the Chongqing Buddhist Association.
