Cijin Island is easily accessible by ferry from Pier-2 Art Center, taking about 10-15 minutes. On the island, you can explore the old street, beach, Star Tunnel, lighthouse, and more. If you, like us, find the weather too hot and prefer not to rent a bike, start by strolling through the old street after getting off the ferry. Afterward, take a leisurely walk along the beach trail (we walked up to the Gate of Love and then headed back—it was really hot, and there are sculptures further down the beach that you don't necessarily need to check out one by one). Then, head to the Star Tunnel and continue to the lighthouse for a panoramic view of the colorful houses, which are especially stunning and reminiscent of Busan.
Tips:
- It's recommended to visit in the afternoon to avoid the scorching midday heat and catch the most beautiful sunset.
- For those who love taking photos, wear bright-colored outfits to better match the vibrant colors of the island.
- Visiting Cijin is not just about enjoying the sea; it's also about falling in love with its "colors."
Transportation:
Take the Kaohsiung MRT to Hamasen Station. If you're coming from Kaohsiung High-Speed Rail Station, you'll need to transfer once, which takes about half an hour. From Exit 1 of the MRT, follow the signs and walk for 7-8 minutes to Gushan Ferry Terminal. Swipe your card for a fare of 20 TWD, and you'll reach Cijin Island in just 5 minutes.
