Coron Island, Philippines, a maritime utopia in the secret realm of a thousand islands

In Palawan Province, Philippines, lies Coron Island, praised by Lonely Planet as "Asia's last secret paradise." The air here is so pure it cleanses the soul, with fine white sandy beaches stretching along the edge of emerald waters. The underwater world is like a colorful painting, and its exceptional value for money has made it a "maritime utopia" in the hearts of travelers.

The surrounding seas of Coron Island have retained their pristine nature, with numerous islands scattered like stars, most of which are untouched virgin lands. Since there is no accommodation on the island, island hopping has become the best way to explore. After signing up with a local travel agency, I boarded a unique Filipino crab boat with travelers from various countries and began a free-spirited journey across the boundless sea.

Plumeria Island was the most stunning secret spot on this trip. This secluded little island boasts a top-tier island environment, with turquoise waters embracing the pure white sand, each frame so beautiful it captivates the heart. It has no official name but is named after the wild plumeria trees growing by the beach. Coron Island enjoys summer all year round, and when landing on the island, you can always see plumeria flowers blooming on the branches, their elegant petals adding a touch of romance to the small island.

As a relay station for island hopping, we enjoyed a picnic on Banol Beach. Towering cliffs surround the island, and scattered between the mountains, sea, and sky are a few old stilted fishermen’s huts, like imprints left by time. On the beach, two pavilions made of wooden stakes and dry grass stand, where everyone sat around tasting the freshly prepared seafood lunch by the boatmen. The fairy-tale coastal scenery before our eyes made us feel as if we had stumbled into paradise.

Walking barefoot on Banol Beach, the white sand is as fine as jade, feeling like stepping on soft silk underfoot. The fresh sea breeze brushes past, carrying the delicate fragrance of plumeria flowers to the nose. The grandeur of the cliffs, the clarity of the sea, and the softness of the beach blend here, as if time has slowed down. This trip to Coron Island has no noisy commercialization, only the pure beauty gifted by nature, capturing the island’s romance and tranquility into an eternal memory.
