Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) is a natural landmark in the Andes Mountains, located at an altitude of about 5,000 to 5,100 meters above sea level, and is characterized by colorful stripes formed by the oxidation of various mineral layers. It is called ‘Rainbow Mountain’ because seven distinct colors, including red, gold, and turquoise, appear.
This mountain is located in the Cusco region of Peru, and is emerging as a new popular tourist destination in Peru after Machu Picchu. It is also selected as one of the ‘100 Places to Visit Before You Die’ by National Geographic.
You need to hike for about 2 to 3 hours, so water is essential, a hat, sunscreen, and for those who suffer from altitude sickness, it is recommended to ride a horse from the start.
A horse is cheap, about 5 dollars, so if you want to go a long way, you can do it for less than 10 dollars. The Vinicunca people running around with horses are really amazing
Of course, they must have strong hearts because they were born and raised there
To visit Rainbow Mountain, high-altitude trekking is essential, and a 3-4 hour hiking course follows. It requires a lot of physical strength and you have to be careful about altitude sickness due to the high altitude, but the view of the snow-covered peaks and vast valleys from the top is spectacular.
The reason Peru's Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) was selected as one of National Geographic's '100 Places to See Before You Die' is because of its rare and colorful natural landscape and uniquely colorful colors. This mountain has seven naturally colored stripes that were formed over a long period of time as various minerals oxidized, creating a unique landscape that is hard to find anywhere else
You will be given time to reflect on yourself and heal in the vast Andes Mountains, local culture, and pure nature. It is ideal for travelers who want to get away from their daily lives and have their own time in a different environment.
