Goddess of Mercy Temple

The Goddess of Mercy Temple, also known as the Transformation of the Goddess of Mercy Temple, is located in Dali, China. It is a sacred temple and has been a spiritual center for the people of Dali for a long time. According to legend, during the Tang Dynasty, enemies marched to attack Dali. The Goddess of Mercy transformed into an 80-year-old woman carrying a large stone on her back and blocked the enemy's path. Seeing this, the enemy soldiers thought that if even an elderly woman in this city had such strength, the young men and women must be incredibly strong. Thus, they retreated, and the people of Dali built this temple during the Tang Dynasty, carving the transformed Goddess of Mercy from marble as a symbol of Dali.
