I wanted to learn about the history of the city of Dalian, so I visited the Dalian Museum near Xinghai Square. The exterior of the museum has a modern and contemporary feel. Inside, the exhibits about the history of Dalian explain how the city developed into a port city and gateway to Manchuria from the late 19th century, with the construction of the South Manchurian Railway by Russia and Japan, who occupied the Liaodong Peninsula at that time.
