In Chinese cities, old streets are being restored to create "atmospheric" historical quarters for tourism and commerce.
Like Shanghai's Tanzifan and Harbin's Baroque Street, Dalian has taken up the restoration of Dongguan Street quarters.
And very successfully!
Dongguan Street (东关街) in Dalian arose in 1905 as part of old Lüshun (Port Arthur). In the 1920s and 30s, it was the heart of the Chinese quarter: noisy markets, crafts, theaters.
After 1955, with the transfer of the city center to Zhongshan, the street gradually faded away. For many years, the buildings deteriorated, preserving the authentic appearance of the early 20th century.
💔After restoration in 2024, 📍Address: Located near the Pavilion shopping center, it attracts tourists with its beauty, photo zones, restaurants and souvenir shops.
