Hainan Trip - 40th Army's First Landing Point in the Liberation of Hainan

After visiting this memorial site, you will learn that this was the first landing point in the liberation of Hainan Island.
The "40th Army's First Landing Point" is located on the west side of Chaotou Beach in Chaotou Village, Baimajing Town, Danzhou City, opposite Island No. 2 of Ocean Flower Island, on the left side of the bridge on Island No. 2. The first landing point in the liberation of Hainan Island was named the "40th Army's First Landing Point." On March 5, 1950, at 7 pm, the field army's vanguard battalion began its first sea crossing operation. More than 20 people, including cadres from Danzhou County and boatmen Lin Dijuan, Jian Changqiu, Huang Shenyang, Huang Tuzhuang, Lin Changrong, Liu Jichun, and Wan Xiaojing, each piloted 13 sailboats, carrying 799 officers and soldiers from the 352nd Regiment of the 118th Division of the 40th Army of the Fourth Field Army, set sail from Dengloujiao on the Leizhou Peninsula, and on the afternoon of the 6th, they headed straight for Chaotou Beach in Baimajing, and after a fierce battle, they successfully landed and joined forces with the vanguard battalion of the Qiongzong First Brigade. In this landing operation, more than 50 officers and soldiers were killed or injured, including Fu Shijun, platoon leader of the 3rd Company of the 1st Battalion of the 352nd Regiment of the 118th Division of the 40th Army. This historical event marked the official start of the People's Liberation Army's campaign to liberate Hainan Island and was the landing point for the vanguard battalion in the liberation of Hainan Island. The Baimajing landing point not only carries an immortal historical story but also bears witness to the heroic battle footprints. It is an important part of the battle to liberate Hainan Island and is of great significance for studying the history of the liberation of Hainan Island and the heroic deeds of the People's Liberation Army.
