Jiang Shoushan's former residence is located in Laomendong, Qinhuai District, Nanjing. The building courtyard is complete and the structure is intact. It is one of the better preserved late Qing Dynasty buildings in Nanjing and is a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province.
The most representative of Jiang Shoushan's three former residences is No. 18-20, San Tiaoying, east of Chengnanmen. This is a typical Nanjing residential complex with multiple courtyards and halls. The most common Nanjing residence has three to five courtyards, with courtyards or skylights between each two courtyards. Some also have side rooms, and wealthy families have up to seven or eight courtyards. Jiang Shoushan's former residence has two corridors and seven courtyards, facing south and covering 4,500 square meters.
The layout consists of a foyer, a sedan chair hall, a main hall, and a main house, with four entrances. The lower portion of the building, approximately 1.5 meters above the street, is built of bluestone, giving it a solemn and solid appearance. The foyer's exterior walls feature horse-tie stones, and the gables feature tall fire walls, which not only seal the end beams and purlins but also provide fire protection and serve as a distinctive feature of the residence. The overall building exudes the feeling of a spacious courtyard. The building's courtyard remains intact, its structure intact, making it one of the best-preserved examples of late Qing Dynasty architecture in Nanjing. It is now a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Unit.
The subtropical monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
Jiang Shoushan's original house had three wings and four courtyards, including a foyer, main hall, backyard, and garden. The main hall boasted massive beams and columns, and the brackets and eaves featured intricate carvings. Gates connected the three courtyards. Later, to build a shopping mall, several components were dismantled and numbered for future reconstruction. One of these buildings, located at 49 Jianzi Lane, no longer exists. Another was located at San Tiaoying, east of the old gate in the south of the city.
