Hand in Hand Journey Season 11 - Hainan Island Circumnavigation Road Trip (16)
The World's Largest Flower-Shaped Artificial Tourism Island - Ocean Flower Island
1/26 (Tuesday), Danzhou - Haikou
Sunny weather, temperature 16-25°C.
Last night, we took a walk around the island and gathered some information. After breakfast today, we drove into Ocean Flower Island's No.1 Island - the main island.
Ocean Flower Island, touted as the world's largest flower-shaped artificial tourism island, is located in the bay area between Paipu Port and Yangpu Port in Danzhou City, about 600 meters from the coast with a total span of approximately 6.8 kilometers. To capture an aerial view of the island, one would need to fly at least a kilometer above, which is not only prohibited by air traffic control but also beyond our drone's technical capabilities. Here's a promotional image of Ocean Flower Island instead (Photo 1).
The island consists of three independent offshore islands with a total reclaimed area of about 8 square kilometers, shaped like three blooming flowers in the sea, hence named "China Hainan Ocean Flower Island." This is the third reclaimed artificial island we've seen in Hainan after Sun Moon Island and Phoenix Island, showcasing China's extraordinary island-building capabilities.
The central part of the promotional image is No.1 Island, accessible via Haihua First Road (Photo 2). The two tall buildings at the entrance are the Hilton Hotel (Photo 3). This island's main functions include tourism, vacationing, business exhibitions, hotel conferences, entertainment, dining, and marine sports. The two islands on either side of the promotional image, No.2 and No.3 Islands, are primarily residential with supporting public facilities. The entire project was invested by Evergrande Group, reportedly with a total investment of 160 billion yuan.
We stayed on No.2 Island, where high-rise buildings and mature surrounding facilities abound. No.1 Island is still under construction with construction vehicles coming and going. The currently operational areas open for visitors include Zones A, C, and E, featuring a shopping mall (Photo 4), convention center (Photo 5), Ouba Hotel (Photo 6), and themed commercial streets (Photo 7). After leaving No.1 Island, we drove around No.3 Island (Photo 8). We look forward to Ocean Flower Island becoming a major tourist attraction in the near future.
On our way back to Haikou after lunch, we made a stop at Lingao Cape Scenic Area.
Lingao Cape, located at the northern tip of Lingao County, faces the Leizhou Peninsula across the Qiongzhou Strait.
The Lingao Cape Scenic Area boasts unique natural landscapes and cultural attractions. It's a prominent cape in the Qiongzhou Strait, surrounded by sea on three sides with a 7-kilometer coastline. It's also the landing site where the People's Liberation Army liberated Hainan, featuring the Hainan Campaign Exhibition Hall, the 40th and 43rd Army Martyrs' Wall, and the "Monument of Blood" sculpture (Photo 9). Although rated as a 2A-level attraction, the area is clean and well-maintained, combining natural beauty with cultural significance, and serves as a red education base.
Today's journey covered 222 kilometers, arriving at our "home" in Haikou by 6 PM. The entire Hainan circumnavigation took 14 days with a total distance of nearly 1,400 kilometers, completed safely and smoothly. We plan to spend the next two days exploring Haikou.
