Hongshi Gorge, also known as Wenpanyu , is known as the " First Scenic Spot in the Central Plains . " Located within the Yuntaishan Scenic Area, it is a highlight of Yuntaishan's tourist attractions. Hongshi Gorge represents the pinnacle of Yuntaishan's canyons, integrating springs, waterfalls, streams, pools, and streams into a single valley. Its majestic, treacherous, and secluded beauty has earned it the reputation of a " bonsai canyon . "
The canyon is 1,500 meters long and is a single-lane attraction. At the southern end of the canyon entrance lies a narrow gorge called " One Line Sky , " home to the 60 -meter-high Bailong Waterfall. Towering mountains on either side resemble a stone tower, marking the western gate of Yuntaishan.
This area is vast and secluded within, with hidden wonders hidden deep within. The cliffs and rocks on both sides are breathtakingly beautiful, like a giant bonsai carved by divine hand, or a condensed version of famous mountains and rivers. Garden experts call it a " natural landscape gallery . " Xu Yizhen, the prefect of Huaiqing during the Ming Dynasty, once praised it in a poem: " When will a divine axe split the cliffs, a thread of light opens from a bird's wings. The setting sun over the mountains makes me feel too lazy to return, unable to look back and linger. "
The summer is cool and pleasant, while the winter is warm like spring. There are no four seasons throughout the year, and the temperature remains around 25 degrees Celsius.
The valley is dotted with the following scenic spots: Shoulongtan, Heilongtan, Qinglongtan, Huanglongtan, Crouching Dragontan, Mianlongtan, Xinglongtan, Zilongtan and Youlongtan, forming the Nine Dragons Stream. Other scenic spots include secluded waterfalls, stone caves, kissing rocks, twin lions drawing water, peacocks spreading their tails, and chessboard rocks.
