Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is currently housing a temporary shrine, after a major renovation of the main shrine for the first time in 124 years.
Before visiting, I felt a little disappointed that I couldn't see the main shrine, but
when I actually saw the temporary shrine, I was amazed by its modern design that blends in with nature,
and it was a special experience that can only be enjoyed now.
When I visited, the iris pond in the shrine grounds was filled with hydrangeas and irises in full bloom.
It is lit up at night, creating an even more fantastic atmosphere 🌙
It was a rare experience to be able to enjoy the elegant garden that is unique to this time of year.
In the grounds of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, there are large camphor trees and flying plum trees that boast more than a thousand years of history,
allowing visitors to feel the breath of the ancient era.
On the other hand, modern art works are also on display,
and I felt that the tradition and the modern were beautifully blended together, making it enjoyable even for people who don't usually go to shrines.
If you come here, you can't miss the "Umegae Mochi" 😋
This time, I had it at "Yasutake". A craftsman bakes it right in front of you.
The freshly baked aroma and gentle sweetness of the bean paste are exquisite,
and it's a dish that you should definitely try on the spot 🍡
There was also a standing-style eat-in space at the back of the store.
When I got tired of walking, I stopped by "Kasanoya",
and enjoyed a relaxing meal in a calm Japanese space while looking at the garden 🥢
The cute pink noodles and refreshing taste of the Ume Somen are perfect for the hot season,
and I couldn't help but buy some as a souvenir 💞🎁
Dazaifu Tenmangu, where you can enjoy history, nature, and gourmet food,
is no wonder that many tourists from overseas visit.
Once the renovation of the main hall is finished, it's a place I'd definitely like to visit again.
