If you visit Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, you should try the famous Umegae Mochi!

When I went to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, I tried the local specialty, Umegae Mochi!

While walking along the approach to Dazaifu, I passed many shops selling Umegae Mochi, but one that caught my eye was Kasa no Ie, so I decided to buy some!

For just 150 yen each, you can enjoy piping hot, freshly made Umegae Mochi.
The outer layer of mochi was thin and slightly crispy, and filled with just the right amount of sweet bean paste. It was delicious!!!

By the way, it was hotter than I expected, so be careful not to burn yourself!⚠️

You can eat it while walking around, but the approach to the shrine gets too hot in the summer, so I recommend eating it in the air-conditioned rest area next to it.

If you visit Dazaifu, be sure to give it a try!!!
