Hey there! I’m the kind of person who’s always out exploring — and when I posted these pics on my feed, everyone exploded with the same question: “Where is this? Is that Zhangjiajie?!” 🤯
Nope — it’s right here in Guangzhou! Specifically, in Lianhua Mountain (Lotus Mountain) in Panyu District. 💥
What you’re seeing is an ancient quarry site that dates all the way back to the early Western Han Dynasty and was in use until the Qing Daoguang era — that’s over 2,000 years of history! ⛏️⛰️ It’s the only one of its kind in China — known as a unique “man-made Danxia landform.”
🌄 Must-See Highlights:
There’s a viewing pavilion perched high on a cliff, where you can overlook the massive quarry site. The scenery is jaw-dropping — it honestly looks like nature carved it by hand.
You’ll find old stone pillars and slabs still standing — some are perfectly cut, sharp like blades. Others rise straight from the water, pointing to the sky like natural skyscrapers.
Swallow Rock (燕子岩) is the star of the show — every morning and evening, flocks of swallows dart and dance among the cliffs. Below it is a peaceful shallow lake.
Other epic spots include Shunjing Rock, Lotus Rock, White Elephant Rock, the mysterious Bottomless Hole, plus iconic landmarks like Lotus Pagoda, the Guanyin Statue, and ancient city walls.
You can easily spend a whole day exploring this place — it’s a mix of nature, history, and surreal landscapes that feel almost cinematic 🎥🌅
