Take the high-speed train to Dongguan South Station/West Station, then a 30-minute taxi directly to the entrance of Shuilianshan Forest Park (free admission! Parking capped at 10 RMB). Hike 6 km around the lake, check in at Biyu Lake viewing platform, Shuilian Cave, and Nine-Bend Bridge. The sunset is breathtaking!

Affordable homestays at the foot of the mountain! Recommended “Shuilian Town” or “Forest-style Cottage,” queen bed rooms at 198 RMB including breakfast, open the window to greenery, so quiet you only hear birdsong.
