Start early, especially on rainy days—there’s fewer visitors and you’ll catch pandas being playful and super photogenic. Wander the winding paths; must-do is watching feeding time in the main enclosures and taking in the open-air habitats. The real treat: the pandas come surprisingly close, letting you enjoy candid panda moments you might miss at busier spots.

Top photo spots:
Snap from the boardwalks—especially in misty weather, which adds an enchanting haze to your shots. Look out for the playful cubs in the “nursery” enclosure, and capture a wide bamboo backdrop for that iconic panda pose.

Visiting during a light rain didn’t ruin our trip —umbrellas won’t block views, and the pandas are active (my personal experience: bonus tranquility and great close-ups!). Weekdays are usually quieter. Bring a raincoat for comfort.

Stick to the pathways, maintain distance as instructed, and keep noise down for the pandas’ comfort. The valley can be slippery, so wear sturdy shoes.
